Innovation Internship: 5G Networks / Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Job description

You join the Rennes Lab of Alten’s Innovation Department on the Outdoor 5G Simulation Platform project. The goal is to build a proactive handover mechanism in an O-RAN architecture, combining external data and AI models to keep connections continuous and reliable.

An innovation lead supports you from the state-of-the-art review through to integrating the algorithm. You work with tools such as Python, C++, ns-3, Docker and Kubernetes.

The internship lasts six months at the Rennes Lab, with a stipend of 1,200 euros gross per month, meal vouchers and transport costs covered. A job offer may be considered at the end of the internship.

What you'll do

• State-of-the-art review of 5G handover in an O-RAN architecture
• Identifying and integrating relevant external data sources (geolocation, trajectory forecasts, network information, etc.)
• Improving a proposed AI-based decision algorithm to anticipate connection degradation
• Evaluating the proposed algorithm
• Integrating the algorithm into the O-RAN architecture

Who they're looking for

• Final-year engineering student looking for a final-year internship, specialising in mobile networks, telecommunications or computer science
• Solid knowledge of 4G/5G technologies and AI algorithms
