Internship – Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) Assistant, AI (M/F)

Job description

You join an AI unit at Alten in La Rochelle. With the team, you look for the client needs where AI adds the most value, then help design generative AI solutions such as business assistants or document automation.

In practice, you write Python scripts, plug language models such as Mistral or OpenAI into prototypes, and work with vector databases and RAG. You also document what you build and help users get started with the AI tools.

You get hands-on with LangChain, LlamaIndex and FastAPI, as well as the basics of Azure and AWS. The internship builds your skills on current technologies and may open the door to a future role at Alten.

What you'll do

• Identifying high-value use cases for our clients, together with the team.
• Helping design generative AI solutions (business assistants, document automation, etc.).
• Building scripts and tools to automate repetitive tasks (Python, APIs, etc.).
• Integrating language models (Mistral, OpenAI, etc.) into simple prototypes.
• Using databases to structure and enrich business data (vector databases, RAG).
• Documenting the processes and solutions you build.
• Helping users get to grips with the AI tools.

Who they're looking for

• Master's-level student (5th year of higher education) in computer science, data or AI
• Strong Python skills (libraries such as Pandas and NumPy).
• Solid command of generative AI.
• An analytical mind and the ability to solve technical problems.
• Rigour and good organisation to deliver hands-on projects.
• A taste for innovation and automation.
